OVERALL THOUGHTS
This was a nice show. It must have been the weather everyone was friendly and chatting. Music was 50's and enjoyable. It was nice not to listen to some DJ trying to be funny or on a soap box. More shows could go this route with the XM music.Food was a notch above the normal cardboard fair normally served real hamburger hamburgers. The club needs to get more flyers out. If it was not for this website I would not have known about it and would have missed one of the more enjoyable shows that I have attended. A 9 out of 10 in my book. Will be back for sure.
Great location, well organized, nice trophies, saw some new cars, but the classes needed to be broken up really bad. Brand new cars right off the showroom floor do not deserve to compete against 20 year old cars and win! Ill be back.....
You could park where you wanted, I was lucky to get a shady spot.
Class Organization
None, cars were scattered.
Trophies & Prizes
I felt there were a lot of cars deserving to win that didn't.
Food
The line for the food inside the fire dept was long, so we walked across the street to Culvers.
Entertainment
The music was good, they had an XM reciever hooked up to the PA system.
Judging
Read my comments below...
Dash Plaque

Variety of Cars
Many I see locally, and a few new ones
Bathrooms
Plenty of TP in the Mens Room ;)
Weather
Couldn't ask for a better day
Trophy Presentation Timing
This train kept moving along!
Entry Fee
$10, usual fee around these parts.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
This was my first time at this show, there were a lot of good things and there were some things they could work on for next year. The weather was great, the selection of cars were great, and the day really went by quick.
When I got there and had to choose a class, I asked a guy in the SRC what class I should go in because my original 87 Olds can't compete against a brand new Challenger. I asked if Special interest was a better place for me and he said yes. Then, the same guy judged my car and spent about 32.6784 seconds judging it. It wasn't just my car either, there were many cars I didn't see get the time with a judge they deserved. I wasn't really impressed with this, but I will give the benefit of the doubt and state that I only saw two judges the whole day. The SRC are a small club but they should try to get a bit more help for next year.
My recommendations for this show would be to break up the stock classes a bit more, add a unrestored/survivor class, a muscle car class, and new muscle class (mustangs, camaros, challengers). As I said before, IMO there were many vehicles deserving of an award that didn't get the credit due i.e. Marshall's buddy Dick with the '62 Impala.
Congrats to circletrack & DDHemi on there wins today!!!
Park where you want, first ones there got the shade.
Class Organization
Typical classes, many cars in certain classes.
Trophies & Prizes
Nice trophies.
Food
Good burgers.
Entertainment
Music was clear and easy to hear.
Dash Plaque
Kind of a plain Jane, black and white.
Variety of Cars
Nice variety of cars of all eras.
Bathrooms
Adequate for this show.
Weather
Perfect, about time in this pathetic climate.
Trophy Presentation Timing
On time and went quick.
Entry Fee
Typical for car shows these days.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
A nice relaxing day with a very good turnout. Nice to see after last year's show was rained out. One of the judges was rude about not filling out the form, I can't help it if I am illiterate.
I only had one thing that I don't care for at this show... charging spectators. I realize we're all in this to make money, but you want people looking at the cars and walking through your show; I don't feel they should have to pay to do that.
Congrats to all the Best In Class and Best of Show winner/winners at this show!!!!!
This show continues to improve and grow. Judging was timely and consistent and last year's resin plaques were replaced with unique, well received, trophies. Thanks to the Sugar River Cruisers Club for a job well done and a very excellent car show. I don't think I have ever had a better burger than the one that I had inside the fire station today. This food venue needs to return for 2010!
I would agree that the spectators should not be charged to attend this show and walk around and look at the cars!!!!!! If the SRC Club needs additionalk revenue, then I suggest that you increase the admission to next year [er car. I, for one, like spectators walking around, looking and admiring and asking questions about the cars.
All in all, a great show and a nice recovery from last year when the show was rained out. Thanks again to the Sugar River Cruisers for a great show!!!!!!!!! I will definitely be back in 2010.
Dick did get an award today, unless I'm reading that wrong, Zac?
I also agree the classes need to broken down much farther, there is no reason to have a car right off the showroom floor competing with something that's 20, 30 or even 40 years old. New cars should be in their own class, the owners should recognize that also.
Dick did win for his chevy. I do thimk that the 70-present class was a bit wierd. a 2009 winning over some 20-30 yr old originals should not happen .Like many shows of late everything other than customs/rods and muscle are after thoughts.
I guess if Dick won, I didn't see him accept his award. That was one car that I felt deserved an award! I also felt that Marshall should've gotten an award, and didn't hear his name called either...
For some reason, there seems to be a cloud over my car at this show! This is that one elusive show for me that I have never done very well at, and I have attended this show for many years. But that's how it goes for all of us. One week we're a hero and the next week we're a zero. I'll go back next year and give it another go. That burger that I had was way good...... Thanks for noticing my car. It's nice just to be able to attend any car show and just hang out.
Dick is doing very well this year. His car has been overlooked and passed by at many shows, so it's nice to see him get some recognition with his classic, red, ImpalaSS convertible! I actually had to twist his arm a little to get him to come to this show! I know he's glad he did because he had been coming to this show much longer than me and didn't have a high opinion of this show from year's past.
The SRC club seems to be on the rebound and growing. This show is getting better each year, so I expect some changes will occur for 2010, especially with the class structure.
I would agree about the new Dodge Challenger's ( Camaro's, Mustangs, etc) being impossible to compete against at this show. I noticed that both Challengers won Best in Class Awards as well as that new Mustang Shelby GT-500. I didn't see any judges, but I did hear from several other car owners that the process was pretty quick with each car (a quick walk around and off to the next one).
The best of show was that nice red '58 Chevy Impala custom. Has anyone ever seen this car before, or has it just been rolled out for 2009?
+1. I like the XM idea over a DJ (sorry lordairguitar) as opposed to someone who talks too much, says "lookie here" every time a car rolls in, listening to someone describe cars incorrectly, or play crap music for 8 hours.
heck, I even have the 50s and 60s channels preset on my truck radio thats equipped with XM, and I'm a heavy metal kinda guy.
I was imperssed with this show overall. I remember back in 1996 winning my first award from this club at the Mt Horeb Frolic car show. That was always a good show, and miss it alot. But please for next year have a modern day muscle class for this newer stuff. Its almost disrespectful to the cars that are 20+ years old that lose to a car with a warrenty! Break down street machine into 3 classes and stock into more then 3 classes. Maybe a muscle car class? I also like being able to park where ever at the smaller shows. (about 100 cars) Then it makes you get up and walk around and scope out everyones cars to find who is in your class.
I also like how some thought went into the trophies. Not just your run of the mill standard. I can always use the vice grips to double as a radio knob.
I agree, more xm radio! Could step in with some 70s disco every now and again.

I agree. This seems like an easy way to get away from the very traditional and overused "car show music"
