Parking Location Asked for a shady spot and got it
Class Organization Sucked
Trophies & Prizes They looked nice, but you would have to ask the family that got 5 awards at this show how nice they are.
Food Bland, cheap ice cream though
Entertainment WJVL's "red hot" Ken Scott
Judging The absolute worst judging I have seen at this show in the last 5 years I have attended!
Dash Plaque Bland
Variety of Cars Saw some stuff I'd never seen before
Bathrooms Someone needs to quit pissing on the floor
Weather Could've done without the wind
Trophy Presentation Timing They started early which was a good thing since they decided to stroke the time giving awards away
Entry Fee $10 I could've spent in Oregon

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Where do I really start?! I've went to this show for the last 5 years and the judging and classes both have always been ****** up. This year was especially bad since they had "original restored" and "original" classes. Now, wouldn't you think if you had a restored Chevelle you would go in the Original Restored class?! Instead the idiots (and I use this term loosely) that put this show on let restored cars in the Original (survivor) class!!! How is any survivor car supposed to compete against a restored car?! I went so far as to ask the clown at the driveway WTF and he said they let people park there cars in whatever class they choose, and when I questioned him about it he said "The judges will be able to tell..."

The judges are my next issue. Not only do they not put cars in the correct classes, they don't know there ass from a hole in the ground! There heads were so far up, they would've needed a shoehorn and a flashlight to find there way out! I want to know how a stock Dodge Viper GTS ranks higher than a fully custom, 21 year old Ford Mustang? Seriously, did they let the kids from the Albany day care center judge today? Obama's Car Czars would've done better. Restored cars winning awards in the survivor classes, cars that deserved awards got bumped, classes (that yet again year after year the lions club has been told need to be split up more) haven't been re-organized, I'm having an anger management relapse just thinking about it!

Another thing that ticked me off was a 2010 Camaro in the original/restored class 86-present. Congratulations, you won a $12 trophy for spending $40k. Cars like these should go in special interest or a modern muscle class, or worst case scenario the organizers should put a year cut-off on the show. Don't get me wrong, the new muscle cars are all cool, but an Iroc Camaro or an early 90s Caddy can't compete against something that just rolled off the showroom floor.

And why does one person get 5 awards? Ok, they brought 4 cars...but it was also said they donated $100 to the lions club for putting this show on. So the lions club is going to flog them? Gimme a break...

This show was a sham. The worst show I've been to since the Holiday in the Park show 2006. Hell will freeze over before I ever go back, I should've went to Oregon, I hear they know how to put on a car show.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Oh man, where oh where do i start with this show. For the last 5 years i have been going to the Albany show. And year after year it has the same problems and it seems to be getting worse! First i would just like to say that these problems have been brought to their attention before by myself and others. Just seems to be falling on deaf ears.

The class organization was to say the least a train wreck! You pulled in and some goofball told you what class you were going into. Not knowing what has been done to the car. My self and moparkid were put into factory original 64-95. Which is ok for both him and i. Him more so then me due to some touch ups to my paint and mods(that no one could really see anyways)but 90% of my car is original. Moparkids is 100% original. This was where it gets absurd. If you have a factory original and a factory restored class, you would put restored cars in one and original survivors in another right? Well seems that there were complete restored 60s muscle cars in our class. Now any idiot can see these cars are restored and do not belong competing against original cars. These are the cars, of course that won. That, and a local boy whos car was so paint chipped up that it looked like the milky way.

We brought this to the attention of the judges before judging took place and they said that they would handle it. Of course me being me i turned and said, " they wont do s#@t about it." And i was right. Also one of the judges judging the special interest class had a F'in car in special interest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It gets better.

Another problem i had brought to their attention in years past is their screwy classes. No street machine for 80 to present. Again ignored.

2010 vehicals that win at a 2009 car show. Come on Wally.... do i really need to explain that to everyone????

A dodge viper winning best mopar..... ah call me crazy but that is a slap in the face to anyone that brought mopar muscle there. I saw a couple cars deserving that award over a new viper. NEW CARS ARE NOT A BEST OFs PEOPLE!

People getting multiple awards is my biggest pet peeve. I dont know haw many people walked away with 2 trophies. Even the ones that donated money!! Wierd huh???? Im calling BS on that one. Oh and this is coming from a guy that won two trophies several different times. Its not right.

The judges screwed over a kid that should have gotten the longest distance award. I saw it all unfold after the show. They tried to hush up the kid and stall him. It summed up the entire judging.

A good friend of ours had an award winning 88 mustang that he built up from scratch after his was totaled(not by his fault). I mean this car draws a crowd. 25K IN PAINT! CHROME CHROME CHROME! 600 HP! BEST ENGINE AWARDS! And gets beat out by a new stock viper and a new stock mustang 2008!!!Sorry but something is up here. Unreal.

Well that just about wraps up that abortion of a show. I for one will never return after 5 years of attending. I would never recommend this show to anyone that does not want to be insulted by the amature hour that was presented this sunday. Waste of a day in my opine! Finding a different show to attend next year.

Guys,
This is why I, for one, opted to check out the Oregon show today, and I was not disappointed to have missed this Albany show. I am sorry to hear that these problems that you speak of are the same ones that have plaqued this show for the past two or three years. You would think that they would have learned from the feedback that many of us have given on this show.

IMHO, this Albany show has always been a "stand alone" show for this date, so they may have felt that we either go to Albany, or go to no show on this date. I have to tell you, Oregon was a huge hit today, with at least 125or more registered cars competing for a few "Best Of" trophies. But you know what, I think in years to come this Oregon Show will become the "stand alone" show, and the folks in Albany will wonder what happened and wonder why so few cars come to the Albany show anymore. This first annual Oregon show was just that good!

Wow, sorry to hear a show was that bad and it's even more unfortunate the organizers don't listen to the participants to correct the issues at hand.

I also don't agree with multiple awards at shows (it's happened to me also), but giving 5 awards to the same family seems a bit much with over 100 cars in attendance.

Nothing can be done now, chalk it up to a bad experience and give the Oregon show a try next year.

Yep, I made my voice heard, clipped my mudflaps on, and went home-nothing can be done about it. DDhemi and I asked for our judging sheets, and the guy is supposed to mail them to us. He didn't want to take the time to sort thru the paperwork and give them to us this afternoon. When my spidey-sense picked up the fact he was blowing us off, that's when I transformed into an A-hole. I asked him how the judging worked, why they let restored cars in the survivor class, and he gave me his sob story about how his job is to get sponsors... I was so worked up I should've mentioned that the new red camaro on display was there courtesy of my boss!!! He passed the buck but said he could understand our complaints...but then my spidey sense picked up that he didn't really care either. Our friend with the Mustang was judged by his tool distributor who also had his car in the special interest class.... Could be a reason he was bumped for a late model viper? And speaking of Vipers, I've been in and around a few of them and this car wasn't that nice. Definetly not my first choice for best Mopar either. I brought these and a few other points up to the announcer ,the most important was me asking him if he had ever heard of or been on the WCC forum. I told him that a lot of the local car community use this board to communicate about cars, shows, products, etc. and he was aware of the "negative feedback" there show had recieved over the years - THEN WHY NOT DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?!

I feel bad for the deserving cars that didn't win. Lots of hard and real passion overlooked for $$$ and "Oooh" factor.

Its a stock Viper GTS, nothing special. Its not an SRT 10, but at least not a crappy built Gen 1 car. There was a lot more cars in the special interest class that deserved to win an award over your car. There were also a lot of other Mopars (though not many there to begin with) that were deserving of Best Mopar. My point is the judges did a terrible job, I'm not saying you're not deserving of a class award, but there were others in your class more deserving that were overlooked.

BTW, Congrats on your two trophies.

I agree that the class layout could really use some work. I went in the Special Interest class because it seemed the only place to put the car? I believe the car show flyer even had Vipers listed under the Special Interest? Everyone has there own opinions on what car is deserving or not. I certainly agree that there were cars of a higher quality that should have been chose over my Viper for the Best of Mopar. Honestly the styling of the Gen 1 & 2 cars is timeless to me compared to the newer SRT's. That is just my opionon though... I was just trying to make the point that no matter what show I attend it generally seems someone is not happy with how it was judged, thats why I just am there to have fun and enjoy the atmosphere.

I'll look you up at the next show and maybe we can discuss some Mopar topics over a beer?

That Albany show was like a bad relationship for me. I kept getting beat up on, but still came back time after time. I felt like Tina Turner and the lions club was like Ike, and i just kept sayin "hit me again Ike! And put some stank on it!!" This year was my epiphany!

I don't know about you guys but I for one could care less if I come home with a trophy from a car show or not. Honestly ..have we lost sight of what a car show is all about? Isn't it about promoting the car hobby and enjoying a nice afternnon with fellow car guys and girls?I honestly don't don't car for the " older muscle" cars. I have a great appreciation for them and understand there place in history but there is a whole new generation of young people out there that are not interested in those types of vehicles. Does that make me or the judges idiots? I mean to yell at the judges and ask for your score sheets.....seriously?? Sorry for the rant but how old are we here?

Sorry hoss, i didnt see the sign with the check list on the way in that said "reasons for coming to car show today." My reasons didnt make the cut, there for i should not attend? I believe that what helped make this country great was its competitive spirit . Thats how i was raised and thats what helps me be successful in life. I like to win and be competitive. And that make me imature? I like to win fairly. And ill except losing fairly. But dont come on here and tell me that the car show hobby is about what you think, and only what you think. Why give out awards then. A pile of plastic is a pile of plastic physicaly, but its what it stands for. And to me, it stands for the self pride and recognition for my hard work on building whatever car i brought that day. I can see how you, yourself, cannot grasp this due to the fact that you just went out and bought some whatever car. Its different when you build something. But who are you kidding. You stayed for the awards right??? You must have cared a little. Otherwise you would have just left before they even took place. Better yet just asked not to be judged. I see alot of people hating on the ones that are competitive in this hobby. Those are the ones that should grow up. Who the hell are you to tell me how i should enjoy my hobby? Or anyone else for that matter?

Good things come to those who wait, but only whats left from those who hustle- Abraham Lincoln

Ya, grow up Abe................

Your right it is a free country and you can enjoy your hobby how you choose. Out of respect to fellow car guys I would never come on here and blast someone elses vehicle no matter what I thought of it. How do you know anything about me or my car? What if I told you I bought the car with a salvage title and rebuilt the entire car from the ground up? Would that make it better for you? I apologize if I came across like I was preaching about how you should enjoy the car hobby but I will not stoop to your level in a argument about what is rare ,collectible or otherwise......

Well it certainly isnt a wrecked 01 Dodge or whatever your saying it is now........ Thats just common sense. And your car wasnt salvaged. Myself and moparkid put together a salvaged Viper. You can stop trying to take the high road and playing the victim cause you were the one blasting others and telling them to grow up. Hey, you asked what the flaws were to begin with. I jumped on you because of your high and mighty cocky comments about why i should go to shows. P&M all you want about how i unfairly treated you and your Dodge, but you asked and i wont hold back. So sorry if i hurt your feelings.

An undriven gen 2 viper is what it is. Not a collector car by any means and does not deserve a best of award any more then a 2001 neon. I have owned 3 of these cars and in no way would ever see a judge giving a best of trophy to a car(no matter what it is) that is only 8 years old and stock!. That is a slap to the face of anyone who brought a real collector mopar to that show. I suppose that if your Viper wasnt there then the 2008 sebring or crossfire would have gotten the best mopar right? Better yet can someone tell me how a factory plain jane gts rates higher then a fully custom 600 hp mustang built from the ground up with 25k in paint that was cleaner then your dodge? The biggest problem with your 8 year old stock undriven dodge are that it does not even come close to being as rare or collectable as its fire breathing ancestors. Gen 1 &2 cars have losely built kit car qualities at best. Give me the ZO anyday.

I asked for my judge sheet because I want to see how my car was judged. There is no problem with this, and for the record I didn't yell at him, I stearnly asked for it. If you don't like old muscle cars, I don't care. I like the new, modern muscle and I love the old muscle cars from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Point is that your stock vehicle thats 8 years old competing full-custom vehicles that have more of a "special interest" flavor - The classes at there show need to be more defined. This has been a problem for the past few years, has been brought up to the Lions Club by many, many people, and yet they do nothing about it. Example: there should be a modern muscle class for vehicles 10 years old and newer. Mustangs, Corvettes, Vipers, Camaro's, New Challengers, 350Z's, etc. Special Interest should be left for Motorcycles with V8s, kit cars, someone's General Lee Dodge Charger - you get what I mean. Another class that should be added is Modified Vehicles 80-present. The Mustang that has been discussed in other posts would belong in that class, along with DDhemi's GN, and a few other vehicles that were at Albany. If your Viper had mods, then it could also go in that class. I could care less about winning an award, I've got too many to trip over as it is, but if a show is going to give awards they should be given to the deserving vehicles. I call a spade a spade, if a car is nicer than mine I can admit it.

Ones' preference doesn't make them an idiot. A judge doing a piss-poor job makes themself look like an idiot.

Well i guess i cant come to any more show and be compeditive because some chuckle head in a VIPER says so? I for one come to the shows for my own reasons and not yours. So your calling me imature because of that? Listen pal, you went to a dealership and bought you toy. People that have real mopar muscle didnt go out and buy a car thats resale value is that of a Chevy truck. They built these cars themselves and have great pride in them. But most Viper owners are like you. They dont care for the older stuff. Inturn never owned them. So how would you even know what its like? The new generation, that you talk about is more so into the older cars. If you would read the collectors guide you would have seen the write up about how many young people are interested in the older stuff now more then ever. And i know why. Get on Viperalley.com and see how these guys talk to people. Its unreal. They call other people morons for just asking simple questions. Its a joke.

By the way who yelled at the judges here???

I have read all the threads from this post and I agree with some thoughts and supprised by others. I did attend the show. I did not show a car so I did not have to deal with any of the politics that apparently surrounded it. I thought there were a lot of NICE cars there. I have a 65 mustang fastback that I am working on so I appreciate all the old muscle in the show. I also think that it is fun to see the new muscle there as well. I agree with the statement by moparkid25 that more classes should be opened up for this new muscle. It is a matter of pure opinion on who thinks which car is better where there is 40 years spanning between them.

I think to make a generalization about a guy for what car he owns is pretty wild. I have my arguments back and forth with my mopar and chevy freinds(even though they are always wrong..ha) about whos cars can do what and why. But I wouldn't generalize all camero guys as this way and all charger guys as that, whether they be old or new cars! Either way, I always enjoy the shows and it is because of cars that are there new, old, fully restored or a work in progres.....regardless I always have fun.

The bottom line is the organizers of the Albany show obviously don't take feedback or constructive critiscm when it comes to there show. They have shown that an attendee's input isn't wanted nor welcome, and they will continue to do things how they see fit.

They have had suggestions from many people on adding more classes, defining the classes better, and judging skills. These issues, in the long run, will hurt this show and eventually no one will come. Same thing happened to the Don Miller MOPAR show a few years ago when it was participant judged and all the club members won the awards-that show now is lucky to get 30 cars and has been hanging on by a thread for the last few years.

Hey, its there funeral. Last year my suggestion was to give the judges a pair of used eyeglasses from the donation box so they could see how many nice cars got hosed out of an award. (for the record I recieved a class award last year but was upset with how other cars were judged in various classes)

I won't be back, I won't recommend the show, and I'll be the guy saying "I told you so" if they don't change there ways.

You guys are funny to listen to! The Albany car show is growing and they are in the first years and working out the kinks! So YOU didn't get a trophy,bo who!!! The judges go to other shows and judge also! Get a life and get into reality!! You can be competitive but come on! The judges don't know the names or who owns the cars, just the numbers!! So you want a ten dollar trophy,go to oregon and let me know how you do there :)

And there not in there first years, this was there 6th year putting this show on. I've been to this show for the last 5, and the last 3 there have been issues. Most shows have it down after the first two. I've got plenty of trophies, some of which came from Albany in years past. I could care less if I win or not, I just like to see fairness.

You may want to read all the posts before you shoot your mouth off.

Ok little boy, seeing how the judges did know the name of our friend there, you look like a tool right off the bat. Its little back bitting whimps like yourself that come on here and tell people that they must be wrong,. What the hell do you drive? Your just a troll for whatever cause your posing for. Funny thing is Albany has been at this for 6 years now. Hardly the FIRST years you state that they are in. The judges at this show were a joke to say the least and so is your candyass wannabe poser attempt at making this show even try to look good. Funny thing is the Albany group wants me to come to their next meeting and organize the classes for them for next year you moron. Tell you what, how about you bring your little self on down to that meeting and you can tell me to get a life in person.
