Nice variety of cars, many I hadn't seen before. Some cool Caddies and a Town and Country..
Bathrooms
Seemed to be enough.
Weather
Perfect.
Trophy Presentation Timing
Went fairly fast.
Entry Fee
Typical
For a first year show I thought the organizers did a great job. It is impossible to know how many cars will appear. You have to kind of go by the pre-registration numbers. Next year they will know to give more thought to placement of cars initially. It was a fun and relaxing day in a nice setting. I will be back next year and recommend this show. Congrats to Ryan and The Stewarts on their win.
Some grass, some parking lot, but I think they may of ran out of room, they needed more help parking cars, and getting cars parked deep in the park 1st and have better organized rows
Class Organization
best GM, Ford, Mopar.... The show was meant to be a small show
Trophies & Prizes
Door prizes, were gift cards to local Oregon places, some shirts, and a couple of bigger ones before the Trophies (including 5 rounds of golf); I think they gave away about 50 door prizes
Food
Stock burgers, brats and beers that were at normal "fest" prices (If you went for a walk you could find other Fest types of food or a local traven)
Entertainment
LordAir Guitar was mixing the tunes and then they fed in 101.5 at 2PM; I personally like more 70-80s stuff at car shows then the typicall "car Show" tunes
Judging
Partipant
Dash Plaque
Got one, but no tape on the back :(
Variety of Cars
Nice mix, but the low rider trucks and tuners drove in for like 10 minutes and then drove on out (to albany?); Total there was about 130ish cars and they were out of room by noon
Bathrooms
a couple of porta-johns on either end which seemed to work
Weather
Windy at times, sunny and not too hot
Trophy Presentation Timing
Right at 4PM which was on time, but it was a bit later then most shows (understanding that the main foot traffic came in from 2-4PM)
Entry Fee
Stock 10 bucks
Congrats to GTOman and BigBlock for their 1st wins!
For a 1st year show in which they were planning on only 50 cars coming they had one heck of turn out with about 130 cars. They may need to make a decision on whether they need to move it to a bigger location next year (like to the right of the tennis courts across the street).
This was a nice show with a lot of hometown feel to it; I enjoyed it and plan to recruit others to the show next year.
My suggestions for next year:
Bigger location, with more folks parking and maybe some painted lines on the field to line up the cars
Different class organization (if there is +100 cars again next year I'm sure more cars will come with better class organization; participant judging is fine, it is nice to attend a mix of shows with participant or normal judging)
4PM awards is pretty late for most folks who sit outside in the sun all day (2-3PM is typical); by 4PM about 30 cars had already rolled out.
I would hope that Oregon keeps the date for next year. Maybe the Albany boys will get the clue. But i think its already to late for them...... I know of at least 5 people from this years Albany show that will be going to Oregon next year instead. Sounded like a hit!
I just wanted to again say thanks for the great turnout! We never expected this many cars to show up so the we didnt think we needed that much room. Volunbteers are hard to come by so we were hurting on that aspect. As for the classes there will be many more added next year but the judging may have to be different unless we have more volunteers to help. Counting all the ballots was an insane amount of counting and time consuming. This year was a trial year I have never done any kind of event before or even been apart of one. when I went around promoting the show people would ask is it going to be a good show and I would reply Its you the people with the sweet rides that make the show and in my mind we blew away any show in the area away! so much variety and great people I wish I could've thanked each one of you personally! I agree the awards were late but with parade going on I wanted the cars to saty for the crowd that came after the parade and came they did! I am glad to hear you all had a good time and thank you for your comments to help next year be even better. If anyone has more ideas or wants to help out next year it would be greatly appreciated. To stop any rumors yes we did recieve a call from Albany asking why we would plan a car show the same day as theirs. For one we had never heard of their show and two we didnt think we needed to ask permission from another town to have a show. If they have something good going great. 6 years so far for them we were the ones worrying that none would come. I hope Albany continues to grow and I also wish them the best of luck as well, but if they cant handle someone else having a car show the same day I am sorry I dont mean to offened but This is the day that works best for us and the community. There are several other towns and cities having shows to but we just have to work togather and have fun that all this is to have fun and enjoy the cars.
Thanks Aaron
Aaron, I wished I would've came to your show instead of Albany today. My girlfriend lives right up the street from Jaycee Park, but we had plans to go with others to Albany. I apologize for this, your inital turnout was overwhelming I'm sure and I applaud you!!
As far as Albany calling you asking WTF, its a free country and you can plan a car show whenever you want!!! I actually had a guy from the lions club tell ddhemi and I that he was uneasy about there turnout because of the Oregon show while he gave us a ride up to register, LOL! The bass-ackwards way they do things they should be.
I'll be at the 2nd Annual O-town Showdown!!! Already got it on my calendar!!!
Awesome show! I really enjoyed myself DJing the show. I am glad the show was as successful as it was. Even the asphalt parking lot had to be utilized for the overflow. The door prizes were fantastic, such great things! many local businesses gave items that went beyond the normal "car show stuff" like detailer and caps. I saw several golf packages given away and paint ball sessions and gift certificates from restaurants and jewelry stores. If I am back next year, I will bring newer stuff from the 80s and up to fill in the desires of some of the participants. Any suggestions to me will be extremely helpful. As it is, I play a lot more than the normal "stuck in the 50s" type music. Sure, that music is in the mix, but I fit in 70s, 80s, Disco, Rockabilly and some off the wall goodies. I get tired of the standards of the 50s and The beach Boys, not that they are bad, but I realize that tastes change. It is had to accommodate every one, but I try. Please understand that the requests I recieved over the last two days were songs from the 60s and 50s.
Aaron,
You can be very proud of what you and the Chamber did in Oregon this year!!!!! Me personally, I would not go back to Albany, under any circumstances, on any date! I like the idea of the Oregon Car Show being held in conjunction with the community celebration. It only makes good sense to have your car show on this date. One of the things that made your show a success was the reps from the Chamber coming to the Verona Show (and other?) and talking to the car owners, promoting this show, and handing out flyers.
Now that you have explained why the show ran until 4PM, it makes perfect sense to me. You would have been wrong to end your show at 3PM with all the spectator interest coming through the show up until 4PM. This is a community event and you need to make your community happy also.
Thanks again for hosting a show, you did an awesome job, and I will back next year for sure.
Please bring back lordairguitar next year to DJ your show. I like his style, his selection of music, and most importantly, his willingness to bend over backwards to try and make everyone happy with the music selection.
I have read all the comment cards and the only real problems we had said to have more classes and trophies and better parking. We will for sure be doing this. This year was a trial run and now we know what to do. There will be many more trophies and classes. A big reason for the small and vague classes was due to limited support. I believe it was mostly due to being a new show and not knowing what to expect. I kept getting asked how many do you expect to come I honestly had no idea I was hoping to get 30-40. If we wouldve been better prepared for the amount of cars that showed up it woud have been parked much better but we only had about 6 people running this entire show. Not many people volunteered. the food and beer were run by separate organizations. I do apologize for any and all problems that any of you may have encountered. As far as we heard there was minimal problems other than the wind. I hope to have the same if not more cars/trucks and bikes next year. We are already in the works of expanding the grounds if not using a different location. The location is nice due to how visible and close it is to the carnival grounds. we believe that if we were to have it on the other side of the creek it would detract the visibility and foot traffic. but we will look into this further. i like shade at these events as well. I am new to this car show stuff i have just recently bought my Chevelle from my father and at the shows I like the shade very much. I will see what we can do. there is a split on the swap meet idea maybe we will hold off untill we get the car show perfected then look further into swap meet. If anyone would be willing to help next year it would be greatly appreciated as you could see we desperatley neede help. counting the votes took a long time. just email me @ cucooking123@yahoo.com for more info. again I hope to see you all there next year this year was incredible! Thanks Aaron
In my own car club's newsletter, i will be writing a short piece on the two shows from the weekend. I will recommend that the Wisconsin StreetRod Association should make this a club trip.

The lowriders did show up in Albany about 1sh. I heard one guy say they went to Albion instead of Albany first....
