I thought they did a pretty good job. I like the fact that the 5 bucks goes to help a worthy organization and not for expenses. I have seen that Mercury that won best of show at several other shows and it is a best of show car. To tell you the truth I did not look that close at it at this show because I have seen it before and I did not notice the hood stayed shut. I would have if it would have been a Mopar. I enjoyed my visits with the other car buffs. I would do this show again
Parked by class, best way for a participant judged show

Thanks to forum member, MrSkittles, and his crew at Gordie Boucher for an outstanding show. This was my first time at this show, so I have a fresh perspective. I really like registration as you drive through the Service Department. It was quick and efficient and very unique.
When I saw how many newer, speciality (Rousch, Saleen, Shelby, GT's, etc), high end collector Mustangs at this show, it became very apparent that it was necessary to have three Mustang classes. Trophies in these classes were cut back to 2 per class, instead of 3 Best Of like in the other classes, making this class break-down work very well for this show. Obvously, I am biased here, though, because I am a Mustang driver.
Parking on asphalt is always extra hot, and yesterday was no exception. There was a large tent with chairs and picnic tables, so everyone could get out of the sun. Nice Touch!!!
I liked this show, and I will certainly go back.
My only suggestion would be to have the food vendor stock lots of bottled water, along with soda for next year's show. Bottled water was available inside the dealership, but was sold out by 10AM. Like the other shows this Labor Day weekend, attendance was at a record 172+ cars. This beat last years attendance by 30 cars. There were other cars that parked on Frontage Road and walked into the show and did not show their cars.
for the amount of cars, they didn't have enough classes - see below
Trophies & Prizes
Two awards per class + a best of show

Brats only, we went to the Olive Garden next door and had all you can eat soup for 5.99
Entertainment
I might not be Paul McCartney, but let's just say I'm glad I didn't pay a cover charge to see this band. I think the newest song they played was the Friday Song!
Judging

Trophy Presentation Timing
a little behind but not bad. They also did a good job of keeping it moving!
Entry Fee
$5, can't b*tch about that!
This was OK show. There were plenty of cars there, some I had never seen at other shows. My favorite was the 70 Chevelle SS that had the RamJet 502 under the hood!
The classes should be revisited for next year. With a show this size, you really cant put all GM and Mopar together in there manufacturer's class, they should at least be broken up stock from modified. I also think the Mustang classes could be dropped and break up the Ford classes by years - since this is held by a Ford dealership I feel it would be acceptable. To be honest, I think there was more GM sheetmetal in the parking lot than there was Ford, must be a Janesville thing :)
I also had a pleasant conversation with an elderly gentleman today. He and I talked about his daughter, who I guess is quite fascinated with me and my opinions... ;)
Best of Show went to a very nice Merc that didn't have the hood popped all day. Not sure if they were afraid to have the hood open on there car because it was Chevy Powered or what, but it wasn't my vote for BOS. I voted for the 70 Chevelle SS!
It sounds like this show could take off in the coming years with a few adjustments. I think they did well considering the competition on Labor Day Weekend
I will take these ideas to the dearlership's manager this weekend and see about changing things for next year's show. I happy that things have changed and some of you have a better feeling about this show. Like Terry (GM of dealership) said he is open for your idea's. With that said I want to Thank all of you that did make it there and hope the rest of you will think about coming next year. Congrats to you did win and there is always next year for the rest of us.
