We decided to attend this show on Saturday as we were gong to Beloit on Sunday and this one was on the way. We arrived fairly early and
were greeted by show organizers and other participants. For a small show the selection and quality of cars were nice. Show seemed well organized and club did a decent job of running the show. With over 100 cars in attendance and only one judge, I thought he did an incredible job. Incidently I was parked next to the 58 Pontiac Boneville which was awarded with the best of show. I have checked out this car before, and it is really nice. It got my pick for BEST OF SHOW.
I believe there is some discrepancies in the other postings as I received a plaque for "BEST GM" for my blue and white 55 BelAir HT.
I do agree with other postings that it is hard for older cars to compete with recently manufactured vehicles. Event organizers need
to address this with classes for the new stuff. It is not the judges fault, he calls them as he see's them, and they usually are super clean.
I would like to thank all the participants that made it to the Cars in the Park. It will be better next year with music and possible attractions. I would like to comment on the winners or the Best of's we had. I will list the winning vehicles: Best of Show: 1958 Pontiac Bonneville, Best Ford: 2007 Mustang Roush 427, Best Mopar: 2004 Dodge Viper, Best GM: 1968 Olds Cutlass Convertible, Best Pontiac: 1968 Firebird. Yes we did have 2 newer cars win but these cars were very high quality. We are not biased towards older cars but are for all cars regardless of the money spent. Next year we will have more classes aimed at the increasing number of cars newer than 1986. This will not eliminate the possibility of a new car winning Best of Show but will help the '86 and newer crowd break away from the older cars. We are all car people, please don't let politics get in the way. Every car that attends is a winner for the Dane County Food Pantries whom we contribute too.
Sincerely,
Sheldon

NIce location in a park with plenty of shade. Asphalt also available
Weather
A little cool but nice!
Overall a nice local show. I think this new location is much better than previously because of the grass and also it is a nice, easy drive over to Waunakee. I look forward to this show next year and will be back again!

very nice park bathrooms
Weather

Nicely growing show with excellent new location. All staff were polite and helpful, the food was good, and everything moved smoothly on time. Hopefully there will be more spectators and entrants next year and the organizers will follow through with the addition of entertainment and an sudio system. Overall a great day and I plan to be back next year.

This is why i will not attend this show. Two years in a row best of show went to a 92 Vette. What do these guys smoke?
Well, I made contact with the show organizer and pitched my DJ service. He's asked me to send him an email explaining my show and what I do and what I charge. Hopefully I can get this gig.
Sheldon, Welcome to the forum!! We're happy to have you here. I hope that you will stick around and contribute to the sometimes lively discussions about judged versus participant pick shows, and new cars/trailered vehicles versus antique, vintage, classic, driven and collectible vehicles. In my experience on this forum, everyone has an opinion and frequently expresses their opinion as to how a show should be run and could be made better.
Thanks for all the hard work that went into making your show successful. The best thing that ever happened was the location change from the dealership's parking lot to the beautiful park in Waunakee. My fear is next year that you won't have enough room for all the cars that show up. You and your crew did a fantastic job. I will be back next year, for sure.
I think that the Best Of Show Mopar at your show was the orange Hemi (2008 or 2009) Dodge Challenger. I believe that the Dodge Viper was a Best In Class winner. I would agree with you that by reworking the classes and making allowances for 1986 and newer cars, that you will be able to accomodate the increasing numbers of newer cars.
Thanks for the reminder about what really is important about any benefit car show, and you are completely right about everyone being a winner when they help contribute to a worthy charity such as the Dane County Food Pantries.
Sheldon, I believe the 68 Olds Cutlass Convertible took the class or possibly Best Convertible, and my blue and white 55 Chevy took BEST GM ,at least that's what my plaque reads.
We enjoyed your show and will recommend it to others for next year. Your club members and the gentleman that did the judging did a great job.

I wish you well. This would be a good fit for you as well as the show itself.
Sooner or later shows need to realize how insulting it is to get beat by something you can see in a showroom.
