For those unfamiliar with this event, the "License to Cruise" is not really a cruise but rather a classic car display held in downtown Appleton as a kickoff for their weekend long Octoberfest festival. About 12 blocks of College Avenue is closed to all traffic, and all cars are cleared from the Avenue at 3:00 PM. At 4:00, only pre-1980 show cars are allowed enter and are diagonally parked up and down the show field. The Avenue is then opened for the general public at 6:00 PM and the show runs until 10:00 PM. Over 400 cars and literally thousands of spectators attend this event. If you have not experienced the "Cruise," you are missing out on a really cool and unique Wisconsin collector car experience. Although some rain put a slight damper on this year's cruise, the crowd was still large and thoroughly enjoyed viewing the cars.
