The number of cars for sale seemed to be down a bit. The far lot that typically has +75 cars in it was basically empty (maybe more are spending their 50 bucks on an Ebay ad....).
Plenty of junk for sale and a few new national vendors were there too.
Pretty good, if it grows some more some of the classes may need to be broken up
Trophies & Prizes
plenty of door prizes and trophies
Food
muffins and coffee in the morning and standard brats and such
Entertainment
3d sound, kept the talkie talkie to a minium, music selection made it to about 1984 (what about the 90 - now?)

Hats off to the organizers of this show! They have a great location and put on an excellent show! 160 cars showed up which was double last years record year of 80 cars (they have room for about +300). They will get more cars with better weather and if they switch to a judged show.
They put you into your class as you drove in and the classes had long rows and they didn't run out of room (it was nice to see all the mustangs and corvettes each in their own class and not spread out in the a different stock or modified class (the organizers must of watched this closely). They had folks there to park you. It was participant judging and they did it a little different. At noon you went to registration to pick up your ballot. On the ballot there were 5 classes, and you pick your favorite car in the class (also you picked a best of show). Picking up the ballots was quick. Picking out the cars was also quick since they had the classes in rows.
They moved up the trophy presentation by 1 hr, and a couple of the Best of's will be on either their T-shirt for next year (Bruce and Kathy's 34 will be on the t-shirt) or on the dash plaque.
They also mentioned that any profits will go to a scholarship for a student wanting to study something automotive in nature. I like this and hope they do it next year (maybe mix in a 50 50 raffle with the cash going to the scholarship)
Congrats to MoparKid (and Lindsay), ddhemi, MMRJR on their 1st place wins in their class! And Cuda Man on his Best Of pick!
On the way out they had staff members there to wave and say goodbye and drive safe (nice touch)!
Blacktop in the old part of town; and I had a guy helping me park the car.
Class Organization
3 classes for cars and 2 for bikes
Trophies & Prizes
cool 3D plaques for the award, no door prizes
Food
burgers and brats at the bars, pulled pork, ice cream and all the returants were open.
Entertainment
DJ with 2 speakers, one pointing down each road, a little loud at times, but he played an excellent mix of tunes, (not just "car Show tunes"
Judging
not quite sure if it was participant of folks walking in for the show (if participant i never recieved a voting form)
Dash Plaque
cool plastic dash plaque
Variety of Cars
about 45 cars (they have room for about 75) a little bit of everthing
Bathrooms
2 porta-johns with no lines
Weather
sunny 75 with a little breeze (perfect)
Trophy Presentation Timing
15-20 minutes late, but quick with only 7 awards to give out
Entry Fee
10; which seems a bit high for a show of this size and no door prizes.
This was a fun small town show located in the heart of Mazo. I enjoyed the ride out and the fact that is was a short afternoon show (2-6PM). Even though there were not a ton of cars or a lot of classes it was enjoyable to attend a different show within the Madison area. I really like the idea of a small town mixing in a car show with there town fest.
My only suggestions is to add a couple more classes (I think it is fine to only have 1 award per class for a show this size) and offer 8-12 door prizes to help keep the car owners at this short show.
Some grass, some parking lot, but I think they may of ran out of room, they needed more help parking cars, and getting cars parked deep in the park 1st and have better organized rows
Class Organization
best GM, Ford, Mopar.... The show was meant to be a small show
Trophies & Prizes
Door prizes, were gift cards to local Oregon places, some shirts, and a couple of bigger ones before the Trophies (including 5 rounds of golf); I think they gave away about 50 door prizes
Food
Stock burgers, brats and beers that were at normal "fest" prices (If you went for a walk you could find other Fest types of food or a local traven)
Entertainment
LordAir Guitar was mixing the tunes and then they fed in 101.5 at 2PM; I personally like more 70-80s stuff at car shows then the typicall "car Show" tunes
Judging
Partipant
Dash Plaque
Got one, but no tape on the back :(
Variety of Cars
Nice mix, but the low rider trucks and tuners drove in for like 10 minutes and then drove on out (to albany?); Total there was about 130ish cars and they were out of room by noon
Bathrooms
a couple of porta-johns on either end which seemed to work
Weather
Windy at times, sunny and not too hot
Trophy Presentation Timing
Right at 4PM which was on time, but it was a bit later then most shows (understanding that the main foot traffic came in from 2-4PM)
Entry Fee
Stock 10 bucks
Congrats to GTOman and BigBlock for their 1st wins!
For a 1st year show in which they were planning on only 50 cars coming they had one heck of turn out with about 130 cars. They may need to make a decision on whether they need to move it to a bigger location next year (like to the right of the tennis courts across the street).
This was a nice show with a lot of hometown feel to it; I enjoyed it and plan to recruit others to the show next year.
My suggestions for next year:
Bigger location, with more folks parking and maybe some painted lines on the field to line up the cars
Different class organization (if there is +100 cars again next year I'm sure more cars will come with better class organization; participant judging is fine, it is nice to attend a mix of shows with participant or normal judging)
4PM awards is pretty late for most folks who sit outside in the sun all day (2-3PM is typical); by 4PM about 30 cars had already rolled out.
Grass and plenty of folks to point you in the right direction to get you lined up on the line
Class Organization
Looked good to me, seemed a little heavy on the Bike ones (but it seems that most shows don't attract many bikes)
Trophies & Prizes
Car related door prizes and a 1 year storage at Blue Chip, and nice plaques. Nice Grab bag (the LED shot glass should be fun camping in a couple of weeks)
Food
From burgers to brats, roast beef, pizza, cookies and ice cream from culvers
Entertainment
A DJ that gets it. Nice mix of newer and old stuff.
Judging
1st time this year I've seen the judges take +5 minutes to go over the top cars (I think I saw one judge do an army crawl under a Cuda)
Dash Plaque
Nice one and it is now on display in my garage
Variety of Cars
Lots of great cars ~150.
Bathrooms
Plenty and great locations
Weather
Cloudy, a little wind...
Trophy Presentation Timing
On time and kept it moving
Entry Fee
10 bucks which is stock
This show was running on all cylinders from entry to exit.
Pay as you drive in (to stop the losers who park and forget to register)
Folks to park you on grass that was mowed days before the show
Door prizes that are car related
Judges that take the time to real inspect the cars
A show for a cause
Good fairly priced food
plenty of bathrooms
DJ that played a good mix of tunes
Lots of nice cars including tuners and low ride trucks
Awards on time
My only suggestion would be to have the Club Cars to park in a section where the other cars were at on the grass (I'm sure the club cars where loaded with gear to run the show)
door prizes were mainly car care products; and was a raffle for a couple ov remote control VW buses
Food
1 vendor serving up brats, porkchops and chicken
Entertainment
Trail with an awning and a couple of speakers on tripod that covered the area
Judging
particpant for the top 25 and the club picked best water cooled and best air cooled

Variety of Cars
about 65 cars showed up; a little bit of everthing
Bathrooms
no porta-johns but the park has some flusher about 100 yards away
Weather
A little hot; i wish I would of tossed my pop-up in my car...
Trophy Presentation Timing
20 minutes early at 2:10 due to the heat
Entry Fee
10 bucks standard
This show is put on by the Chippewa Valley Volkswagen Club and all proceeds go to the local boys and girls club (2 thumbs up).
Friday night there is a a grill your meat (they have some grills set up) get together along with a cruise. A few of the VW camper guys camped at the show venue (which was covered in ants....).
My adventure started at 5AM when I left Madison to Eau Claire. Unfortunately there is no easy way to get to Eau Claire without taking the interstate, so I headed up 12 to 94. After 105 miles I pulled in to get some gas and donuts. Got 35 MPG (I pull the roof rack). Rolled into the venue at 8:30 and I was #1 into the show (I guess those VW folks like to sleep in). They had goodie bags with a nice thank-you letter, schedule of events for the day and a 2 page survey on the show (nice idea), and some VW related stickers (that now look nice on my fridge in my garage. The dash plaque was a magnet and is about 2.5X the size of a normal metal one (it is now attached to my old school cooler)
Park where you want. Participant Judging (pick your top 10 and then top 25 win a framed certificate and a 5 dollar gas card to Kwik Trip). There were a dozen water cooled cars and I don't any of them made the top 25 ....
They had a couple of events for the kids including paint the short bus. And a valve drop for the adults. 1 dollar to drop 6 valves into 6 cylinders. The winner gets 1/2 the cash and the other half went to the boys and girls club.
They also had a raffle for a couple of VW bus's (2 smaller ones and one giant 1:6 one) with the proceeds going to boys and girls club. Lucky me I won the huge remote controlled bus (I checked on ebay and there is one buy it now for 350 bucks).
They had 12 vendors selling various VW related junk.
Overall this was a great show and it has a lot of stuff packed into it and it is nice to see the money going to a great cause!
Now my trip home was a little adventure... I drove about 70 miles pulled off to get some gas and I opened the engine lid to make sure all was well and I found oil sprayed all over the engine and oil dripping down the deck lid..... I limped it home (pulled over 4 more times to wipe it down) the last 110 miles, and I think I found the source of the leak (temp sensor).
Car related door prizes, bottles of booze, and t-shirts
Food
4 bucks for a whole plate full of food
Entertainment
Classic car shows tunes (which get old fast), an MC that was over servering himself
Judging
participant
Dash Plaque
none
Variety of Cars
nice mix for the 80'ish that showed up
Bathrooms
in the bar
Weather
sunny, clouds, a little breeze
Trophy Presentation Timing
about 15 minutes late but they kept it moving
Entry Fee
stock 10 bucks
Great day for a 20 minute drive out to Deerfield. Participant Judging which means some cars that should of really won an award don't (4 cars in my class and mine was easily #4, but I pick up a trophy). Congrats to MMRJR on his best of class award and to the other forum posters that picked up awards too.
Nice location for photos, but a bit out of the way to bring in spectators from off the road.
