It is a fact that the car industry has been having a tough time in the present recession. Many companies are having to approach their various governments for extra cash to keep businesses afloat and preserve jobs. This has had a knock on effect in the second hand market. Buyers are simply deciding not to buy at the present time, meaning also that they are not selling either. The flow from buyer to seller has slowed immensely and the industry faces worrying times. However one area that seems to be bucking the trend in certain areas is the classic car market. Read 0 Comments... >> |

The financial crisis and global recession are all too apparent in the classic car hobby today. Simply look across the pages and pages of high quality cars selling for less than just a few years or months ago on Ebay and at auctions. The automotive center is especially hard hit with GM, Ford, and Chrysler struggling to adapt to the new landscape of fuel efficient and alternative-power cars. Fascination with vintage cars crosses all social boundaries, ages, and economic levels. Car show and swap meet events, perhaps more than any other activity, exemplify how passionate people are about cars from the "good old days." With car auctions at these meets, buyers can bid hundreds of thousands of dollars for their objects of desire. In the classic car showrooms, exhibitors buff out every fingerprint on 50 year old chrome bumpers, while spectators peer under hoods to marvel at pristine engines. Swap meet attendees search for that crowning hood ornament that completes their restoration. Others are there just to witness this spectacle in awe. Read 0 Comments... >> |
