The financial crisis and global recession are all too apparent in the classic car hobby today. Simply look across the pages and pages of high quality cars selling for less than just a few years or months ago on Ebay and at auctions. The automotive center is especially hard hit with GM, Ford, and Chrysler struggling to adapt to the new landscape of fuel efficient and alternative-power cars. The proliferation of classic auto shows and the expansion of the definition of the term "classic" dates to 1951 when drivers of vintage 1920s and 1930s automobiles received the cold shoulder from the Antique Automobile Club of America for driving vehicles that were too modern. Owners of classic Cadillacs and Packards found themselves stuck in the Antique club's Class 19 for "Tow Cars." In order to resolve the touchy issue, enthusiasts broke away and formed the Classic Car Club of America.
